Hip-hop dance meets gaming technology in this ground-breaking work by Shaun Parker & Company. Featuring captivating digital sound technology by Alon Ilsar, ReMOTE highlights outstanding hip-hop dancer Libby Montilla, who takes the audience on an incredible journey. As he wanders onto the stage, he encounters a pair of gaming remote controls and at the first push of a button, he transports the viewer deep into the sonic world of a video game.
Through the dance forms of locking, popping, and krump, the self-triggered electronic soundscapes range from bird-filled skies to heaving oceans, from atmospheric strings to crunchy electronica, and from gaming bleeps to funky drum loops, all intrinsically linked to Libby’s outstanding body animation.
ReMOTE is an imaginative, explosive, and joyous experience for young audiences and their entire family.
Clever, creative, visual...My child wanted to interact increasingly...I thought the dancer was so clever. Jen, Parent/Audience Member
